Ziatype Workshop at Digital Silver Imaging

I will be returning to Digital Silver Imaging on Saturday May 13th for another Ziatype palladium printing workshop. This process is easy to grasp and extremely variable, with tweaks to the chemistry used in the sensitizer yielding spectacular shifts in color and tone. If you have ever had an interest in learning platinum or palladium printing, this workshop is a great way to get your feet wet. This will be open to newbies and to those who have taken my previous workshop and would like to build on that experience. Spots are filling up---check Digital Silver's website for sign up and DM me if you have questions!

Summer Youth Program at Lesley

I am pleased to be teaching several courses again this summer in the Youth Program at Lesley, a pre-college experience for high school students. These kids are doing some amazing work so far, including printing using only chlorophyll as seen in our set up here. From exploring Boston with their phone cameras to blending sculpture and photography to alternative process, they are handling everything I am throwing at them!

Lesley University College of Art and Design Summer Youth Program

I am pleased to be teaching two classes during summer session. After the winter we had here in Boston, everyone is enjoying getting outside and feeling that sunshine and harnessing it in the interest of making photographic art. Here is my group outside the Lunder Arts Center making cyanotypes.

The Hand Magazine

One of the Fells images will be featured in the next issue of The Hand Magazine! The upcoming issue happens to include work by some super talented female photographers---Jaime Johnson, Diana Bloomfield, and Jess Somers are among my favorites--- and I recommend checking them out. This publication is a terrific place to become acquainted with contemporary artists involved in image making from digital to the handmade photograph. https://thehandmagazine.wordpress.com/issue-9-july-2015-purchase-and-artists-links/

June 20, 2015 Longwood Gardens

This week I worked with Longwood Gardens to develop a workshop for their continuing education program that combines photography with horticultural focus. Next August I will present a full day of exploring light sensitive processes that utilize plant materials from the gardens! There will be a presentation on the history of employing plants to create photographs such as anthotypes and chlorophyll printing, followed by a hands on class. Mark your calendars, August 2016 will be here before you know it :)
